END-OF-LIFE NOTICE, NO. 491

The Cisco Systems ® Workgroup Business Unit is announcing the End-of-Life of the Catalyst ® 5000 100Base-TX Fast Ethernet Switching Module. This product has been supplanted by the 10/100Base-TX Fast Ethernet Switching Module. The product affected by this End-of-Life announcement is listed below along with relevant dates.

Note: Both the 100Base-TX and 10/100Base-TX Fast Ethernet Switching Modules support 12 RJ-45 connectors.

Last date to ship products: August 29, 1996

Ongoing support and hardware replacement will be available for three years or until October 23, 1998. Please be sure to inform your customers of these continuing support programs because it is always important to them to feel their investments are protected (and it is a good source of revenue for Cisco).

ADDITIONAL NOTES

• There is no planned WS-X5113 to WS-X5213 trade-in or upgrade program.

• This information is also available on Cisco Connection Sales Tools CD-ROM.

• The final regular software release for the WS-X5113, to address any last minute bugs or software fixes, will be the next major release for the Catalyst 5000 (the current release is 2.1).
