Cisco Systems® announces the end-of-sale and end-of-life dates for the Cisco® MDS 9216 Multilayer Fabric Switch. Thelast day to order the Cisco MDS 9216 Multilayer Fabric Switch is November 15, 2005. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until November 15, 2010.
Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and important dates for the Cisco MDS 9216, and Table 2 describes the specific part numbers affected by this announcement.
Customers are encouraged to migrate to the Cisco MDS 9216A Multilayer Fabric Switch, which contains all the functionality available in the Cisco MDS 9216 and also allows for the addition of any current or future Cisco MDS 9000 Family module for up to 64 total ports. Information about the Cisco MDS 9216A can be found at
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps5988/index.html. Table 3 provides relevant information for migrating from the Cisco MDS 9216 to the Cisco MDS 9216A.
