Some versions of the Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) software might generate an error message when certain commands are executed. This issue affects the ASA 5500-X series of security appliances.
ASA Software Releases 9.3(3), 9.4(1), 9.5(2) and 9.6(2) might generate an error message when specific memory related commands are executed. This issue affects these ASA security appliances: ASA 5506, ASA 5506H, ASA 5506W, ASA 5508, ASA 5512, ASA 5515, ASA 5516, ASA 5525, ASA 5545, and ASA 5555.
A summary of the ASA software commands that result in an error message are listed in this section. Other symptoms also include the failure to save the configuration to FLASH memory and the failure to save custom bookmarks to a remote server.

9.4(3.12)
9.4(3.99)
9.5(3.2)
9.6(2.4)
9.7(0.99)
Note: Prior to an upgrade of the ASA software, create a backup of the system configuration with the more system:running-config command and save the output to a file. Follow the software upgrade, enter the more system:running-config command again and compare to the previous saved file in order to ensure the original configuration was restored.
The software for the ASA 5500-X Series Firewalls can be downloaded from the Cisco Software Download Center.
