CSCvy27996 | REM - Deprecation / Removal of SDP Dialect Plan B can break Chrome / Chromium based browser |
Cisco Remote Expert Mobile (REM)/Remote Expert Cobrowse will break in Google Chrome or any other Chromium-based web browser when the legacy Session Description Protocol (SDP) dialect called Plan B is deprecated in August 2021.
As per notes from the conversation in Intent to Deprecate: WebRTC's Plan B SDP semantics, the legacy SDP dialect called Plan B is scheduled to be deprecated in August 2021. This will break Cisco REM/Remote Expert Cobrowse in Google Chrome/Chromium-based web browsers.
Refer to the Enterprise Compatibility Matrix or Express Compatibility Matrix to find a list of supported web browsers for your Contact Center Solution and REM/Remote Expert Cobrowse version. Google Chrome/Chromium-based browsers will be impacted as discussed in this field notice.
Cisco REM/Remote Expert Cobrowse customer calls will fail at some point in the call flow when the caller uses Google Chrome or any other Chromium-based web browser.
Since REM/Remote Expert Cobrowse is out of engineering support, Cisco has no plan to address this expected change in Google Chrome/Chromium-based web browsers. See the End-of-Sale and End-of-Life Announcement for the Cisco Remote Expert Mobile/Remote Expert Cobrowse for more information. REM/Remote Expert Cobrowse customers are requested to use an alternate web browser or video solution.
