CSCvx98176 | Access point with 17.6 or later image cannot join controller running older AireOS |
Some C9130AXI and C9130AXE Access Points (APs) are not compatible for some customers with AireOS controllers with software versions released earlier than July 2021. Affected APs will not be able to join AireOS controllers with the affected software versions.
C9800 controllers are not affected.
Between 2021-08-07 and 2021-09-15, non-compatible AP software was installed on some C9130AXI and C9130AXE APs. This issue has since been resolved.

Option 1. Upgrade AireOS to Release 8.10.162.0 or later.
Option 2. Join the AP to a Cisco IOS® XE controller that runs Release 17.5 or earlier or to an AireOS controller with Release 8.10.162.0 or later, have it download the code, and join the AP to the desired AireOS controller that runs earlier code.
