Introduction

Cisco Configuration Professional for Catalyst (Cisco CPC) is a graphical user interface that offers simplified device configuration, monitoring, and management through a Web user interface.

Cisco CPC is currently supported on the following series of switches:

• Cisco Catalyst 1000-L
• Cisco Catalyst 2960-L
• Cisco Catalyst 2960-X
• Cisco Catalyst 2960-XR
• Cisco Catalyst 2960-C
• Cisco Catalyst 2960 Plus
• Cisco Catalyst 2960-CX
• Cisco Catalyst 3560-CX
• Cisco Catalyst Digital Building

New models supported by Cisco CPC 1.7.1

The following hardware platforms or chassis models are included for support in this release.

• Cisco Catalyst 1000-L

No new hardware platforms or chassis models are included for support in this release.

New Features in Cisco CPC 1.7.1

This release provides support to enable or disable Cisco Discovery Protocol and IEEE 802.1AB Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) protocols globally.

New Features in Cisco CPC 1.7.0

Cisco Configuration Professional for Catalyst provides the following features in this release:

• Configure multiple servers together to act as one logical server group for ease of management.
• Improved AAA security through configurable timeout interval, dead time interval, and transmission retry count.
• Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) Snooping: This feature allows you to constrain the flooding of multicast traffic by dynamically configuring Layer 2 interfaces so that multicast traffic is forwarded to only those interfaces associated with IP multicast devices.
• Quality of Service (QoS): With QoS support, you can select specific network traffic and prioritize it according to its relative importance.
• Remote Monitoring (RMON): This feature enables exchange of network-monitoring data to provide you network-fault diagnosis, planning, and performance-tuning.
• Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) Packet Inspection: Intercept and discard packets with invalid MAC addresses to prevent "man-in-the-middle" attacks.
• Loop Detection: If Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) is not available, use this feature to prevent network loops.
• Enhancements to port configuration using CDP, MDIX, LLDP, port priority, and flow control.

Note To determine the release of Cisco IOS software currently running on your Cisco device, log in to the device and enter the show version EXEC command. The second line of the display shows the version.

Caveats

The following caveats describe unexpected behavior in Cisco Configuration Professional for Catalyst. Severity 1 caveats are the most serious caveats, severity 2 caveats are less serious, and severity 3 caveats are the least serious of these three severity levels.

Known Issues and Workaround

Certain web browsers might not display the contextual embedded help content due to enhanced security and privacy polices of Cisco. You can click the Help icon at the top-right corner or try a different browser.
